(December 16, 2019) — After announcing last Friday that she will retire after the 2020 Australian Open, Caroline Wozniacki revealed on social media that her final match will be against close friend and long-time rival Serena Williams. The match, which is being dubbed “The Final One,” will be a one-off exhibition at the Royal Arena in Caroline’s native of Denmark. What a fitting way to go, and Caroline is certainly excited for her last match.

“It came the moment when I ended my career and I am looking forward to play my last match at home in front of such a big crowd,” Caroline said regarding her final match. “The end of my career cannot happen anywhere but at home and against the greatest player ever and my friend Serena Williams. It will be an evening I will never forget, I am sure.”

Caroline and Serena have squared off 11 times on the WTA Tour with their last meeting happening at the 2014 WTA Finals.
