CAROLINE WOZNIACKI RETURNS TO THE COURT FOR THE MUTUA MADRID OPEN VIRTUAL PRO

Caroline retired from tennis three months ago after she played her last professional match at the Australian Open, however that was short lived as it was time to return to the court … on Playstation 4’s Tennis World Tour game. Caroline was one of the final participant announced this week for next week’s Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro event, which takes place from April 27-30

The former No. 1 has showed her enthusiasm about the idea of playing online. “I’m very excited about playing,” she said. “I’m looking forward to showing off my skills with a PS4 controller and I can’t wait for my first match!”

The Virtual Pro consists of two 16-player draws – one from WTA and one from ATP. Both will include prize purses in which the champion will choose an amount to donate to tennis players currently suffering economically due to the coronavirus pandemic. There will also be a series of benefit matches featuring content creators in the gaming world challenge professional tennis players to raise funds to help those affected by COVID-19.

The tournament concludes Thursday, April 30.
