Caroline continued her strong play and netted another milestone as she advanced to the Miami Open finals for the first time in her career.
After a first-round bye, Wozniacki, the tournament’s 12th seed, topped American qualifier Varvara Lepchenko 6-1, 6-2. She moved on from the third-round when Garbine Muguruza retired with an illness, and beat Lucie Safarova in the quarter-finals in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Caroline secured a place in her third final of the year when she beat No.2 Karolina Pliskova. Though Caroline trailed 5-7 in the first set, she bounced back and triumphed in the second and third round, ultimately defeating Pliskova 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
Caroline advanced to the final against Britain’s Johanna Konta, who prevailed over Caroline 6-4, 6-3. Still, Caroline’s hot start to the year continued with her third tournament final of the year and propelled her two spots in the WTA rankings to No. 12.
