(February 26, 2019) – Caroline Wozniacki took time to sit down with GQ Magazine to discuss her diet modifications and workout routines after being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Caroline was forced to change things up after the diagnosis, especially her diet. “What can I do to make my body feel better?” Caroline asked herself. Figuring out which carbohydrates work better for her were just one of the challenges for her. Stress can trigger the rheumatoid arthritis, so getting sleep and in a relaxed mode has been very important.

Caroline also has fiancé and former NBA player David Lee to lean on for diet influence. “He’s actually been a good influence on me, because I’ve been eating clean too,” she said.

Aside from tennis, Caroline has found ways to stay active. That includes boxing, running, and shooting some hoops. Caroline emphasizes keeping her muscles strong because that relieves some of the stress on her joints. It’s when she is not active that she actually feels worse.

After missing tournaments in Qatar and Dubai, Caroline is ready to get back in action at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, CA, which begins on March 4. The Dane made the Quarterfinals back in 2017 and will look for similar success when the tournament gets underway on March 4.
