Caroline Wozniacki Reaches First Final of the Year in Qatar

Caroline Wozniacki continued her strong play from 2016 into the new year by reaching her first WTA Tournament final of the year at the 2017 Qatar Total Open.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions throughout the tournament, Caroline had a strong start in the tournament, beating Lauren Davis 7-5, 6-1 in the quarter finals and Olympic gold medalist Monica Puig 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals.

After a long week, Caroline finished Qatar Total Open with a 6-3, 6-4 loss in the title match against Karolina. In the first set, Caroline came as close as 4-3, but lost the subsequent serve to lose the set. The second set was an even tighter match, as they two went serve for serve into the 10th set.

After advancing to the Final, Wozniacki has moved up three spots to 15th place in the latest WTA rankings.
