PUBLISHED April 28, 2018

Caroline Wozniacki has been recognized by Forbes in its inaugural Most Powerful Women in International Sports coming in at No. 8, thus making her the top-ranked athlete on the list. This is great recognition for Caroline, who had a great finish to 2017 and a stellar start to the 2018 season, which included earning her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open.

Many factors contributed to Caroline’s spot on the list, including her earning power on and off the court, and her vocal support of gender equality in tennis. Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura of Senegal, the first female secretary general of FIFA was listed at No. 1.

Caroline took to [social media](https://twitter.com/CaroWozniacki/status/979816095543709705) to express her gratitude for the achievement: “Wow. Thank you Forbes for naming me the 8th most influential woman in sports and 1st athlete! What an honor!”
