For the first time since winning the title in 2009, Caroline Wozniacki reached the final of the AEGON International Tournament in Eastbourne, London.

After a first-round bye, Caroline breezed her way through to the quarterfinals, where she faced No. 2 ranked Simona Halep. Although they had competed against each other in the past, the two had never met on a grass surface. In a hard fought three-set match, Caroline proved her worth by defeating the Romanian 5-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Caroline’s next opponent was Heather Watson. Despite entering the tournament unseeded, the young Brit made an admirable run to the semifinals. In another three-set match, Caroline exhibited her resilience by conquering over Watson 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.

Having lost in the round of 16 during last year’s AEGON International Tournament, Caroline was determined to improve this year in Eastbourne. Although she ultimately fell to Karolina Pliskova in the final 6-4, 6-4, she remained true to her motto, “Your true rival is yourself, and you can always improve”.

With this mindset, Caroline plans to continue her momentum into this year’s Wimbledon Championship as the #5 seed.
